UPDATE:
I am so happy to get that first race out of the way. Now I'm ready to do a few more before the snow arrives here in Michigan. The team was out in full force and the day was perfect. The short intensity of CX is notably more difficult for me. Once I recovered from the initial spike it was fairly smooth sailing. Although my dismounts suck and my bike handling skills on off-camber wet grass are weak, I'm still looking forward to getting the hang of CX. I finished mid-pack in the C's. Good time for sho.

Awesome ride. Slick, leaf covered trail was a challenge. Great vibe! Kegger, costumes and swag in the parking lot afterwards was great fun!



It looks like the wet weather has moved off to the East. Sloppy conditions should be ideal for single speedin'. Chain suck, what chain suck?

Mad Anthony Cyclocross race October 17, 2009

Historic Ft. Wayne near downtown Detroit is the setting for this first time event. This event is sure to become a must-do event on the Michigan CX schedule. The old fort should make for an interesting course. My buddy Andy Staub is taking on the challenge of helping to put this race together. Check out the Mad Anthony Blog for more info.

2009 Peak2Peak Mountain Bike Classic

Next up, the 4th annual Peak to Peak Mountain Bike Classic taking place Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Crystal Mountain Resort in Northern Michigan. I have wanted to do this race for several years but I usually found ways to get out of it rather than drive the 4 hours to get up to Thompsonville, MI. I had a riding buddy who had an extra entry and lodging at the resort so it was a slam dunk. This is the last mountain bike race in Michigan before the Iceman Cometh on November 7th. More later...

Update:
Awesome place to get in a Fall race! Great trail and vibe. I went big in my gearing and suffered on the last hill to the top of the ski hill. I lost a lot of time walking. Tough course for a singlespeed but it was a blast regardless. Crystal Mountain is easily one of the finer resorts in Michigan. Top notch place.
